About Us

Woodshop Gallery:
In 1987 McLaren Woodworks opened the Woodshop Gallery in the old sugar cane village of Honomu on the Big Island of Hawaii as an outlet for their wooden products. Over the years Woodshop Gallery has expanded to include work from many of Hawaii's prestige Artists.

Tropical Grinds:
In 1992 Woodshop Gallery expanded once again with the acquisition of the small adjoining restaurant 'Tropical Grinds'. We decided to 'knock down the wall' that way visitors and locals alike can browse the Gallery, sipping on a Latt'e or Tropical Smoothly while waiting for their meal to be prepared.

McLaren Woodworks:

For many years we have supplied the major Gallery's around the state with custom furniture. In 1987 we decided to open the Woodshop  gallery and have been busy building one of a kind furniture for discerning clients ever since.
In 2007 McLaren Woodworks and the Woodshop Gallery joined forces and in an effort to 'cut paperwork' became one. The Woodshop gallery is now the sole outlet for all of McLaren Woodworks Fine line of Heritage furniture.

McLaren Woodworks Koa Wood Sales:
We sell Hawaiian Hardwoods to woodworkers worldwide. Being a custom shop we know just what kind of lumber you need and can select the right piece for you. Our wide selection of Mega-Curly Koa wood is used by Luthiers & Jewelry box makers who want the best possible Koa wood for their projects.
